Job Description: Business Banking Officer

The Business Banking Officer will be responsible for sourcing, acquiring, and managing business and corporate banking relationships. The ideal candidate will facilitate lending opportunities and provide tailored financial solutions to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and corporate clients. This role is vital in supporting the bank’s business development strategy and achieving commercial banking targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, acquire, and grow SME and corporate clients, with a strong focus on businesses operating in major Lagos markets (e.g., Balogun, Alaba, Ladipo, Oyingbo, Mile 12).
• Facilitate lending opportunities by assessing client credit needs and structuring suitable loan products.
• Market and promote the bank’s financial solutions within Lagos’ commercial hubs to drive business growth.
• Build and manage lasting client relationships by providing tailored financial advice and solutions.
• Monitor account performance, ensure repayment discipline, and maintain regulatory and internal compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• BSc/HND in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in business, SME, or corporate banking, with hands-on exposure to lending.
• Strong knowledge of Lagos’ major markets and proven ability to penetrate and market to businesses within them.
• Solid lending and credit analysis skills, including the ability to review financial statements and assess risk.
• Strong marketing, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

N250,000 plus commission

Team Lead

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Lead, Business Banking to oversee and drive lending activities in Lagos’ major markets, including Balogun, Alaba, Mile 12, Oyingbo, and Ladipo. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in business/SME lending, strong people leadership skills, and proven ability to engage market men and women to deliver sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Business Banking Officers focused on sourcing and growing SME and corporate clients in Lagos markets.
• Drive loan portfolio growth by structuring tailored lending solutions for traders, market associations, and SMEs.
• Build strong relationships with market leaders, associations, and unions to deepen access and penetration.
• Monitor portfolio performance, ensure quality lending, and maintain repayment discipline.
• Mentor, coach, and develop the business banking team to achieve targets.
• Represent the bank in market forums and drive financial inclusion initiatives within the informal sector.
• Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

• BSc/HND in Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in business/SME banking, with proven lending expertise.
• Strong understanding of Lagos’ major markets and experience dealing with market men, women, and trade associations.
• Exceptional lending, credit analysis, and portfolio management skills.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and relationship management abilities.
• Demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding business growth targets.
