Summary

The Managing Director will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Microfinance Bank, ensuring sustainable growth, compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivery of innovative financial solutions that meet the needs of customers. The role requires a visionary leader with proven experience in banking/finance, particularly within the microfinance sector, to drive profitability, enhance customer trust, and create long-term shareholder value.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Develop and implement the Bank’s strategic business plan, aligned with regulatory guidelines and market opportunities.
  • Drive sustainable growth in deposits, lending portfolios, and profitability.
  • Identify and exploit new business opportunities, products, and partnerships.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee daily banking operations, ensuring efficiency, customer satisfaction, and digital transformation.
  • Establish strong internal systems for risk management, credit control, and operational compliance.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance metrics across all departments.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with CBN and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop robust policies and controls to mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Provide timely reports to the Board, regulators, and key stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, investors, board members, and key customers.
  • Represent the Bank in industry forums, government relations, and community engagements.
  • Foster a customer-first culture within the Bank.

People & Culture

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing management team.
  • Champion staff training, performance management, and capacity building.
  • Build a culture of accountability, innovation, and ethical conduct.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ senior management experience in Banking/Finance (Microfinance experience highly preferred).
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing business strategies in the financial sector.
  • Strong knowledge of CBN Microfinance regulations, risk management, and compliance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including regulators, investors, and customers.
  • Strong customer and banking network
  • MBA, ACA/ACCA, or other relevant professional qualifications an added advantage.
