Job Summary

The Managing Director will provide leadership for the cooperative, drive membership growth, manage credit and loan operations, supervise staff, strengthen financial controls, and ensure profitable and sustainable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the cooperative and report to the Board/Executive Committee.
  • Drive membership growth, savings mobilisation and business development.
  • Oversee loan marketing, appraisal, disbursement, monitoring and recovery.
  • Supervise accounting, financial reporting, cash management and internal controls.
  • Manage staff performance, teamwork, discipline and service delivery.
  • Ensure proper documentation, compliance, risk management and audit readiness.
  • Build relationships with members, groups, businesses and institutions within Kubwa and surrounding areas.

Qualifications and Experience

  • First degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management or another commercial/social science-related course.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience, with at least 5 years in management in a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative or credit organisation.
  • Strong experience in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loans management and team leadership.

Required Skills

  • Mature, confident, agile, self-driven and target-oriented.
  • Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.
  • Good knowledge of cooperative operations, credit, loans, accounting and financial controls.
  • Ability to manage members, staff and difficult conversations professionally.

 

Accountant

Job Summary

The Accountant will manage financial records, prepare reports, monitor income and expenditure, support audits, and ensure accurate documentation of all transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial reports for management and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Record financial transactions and maintain savings, loan and repayment records.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure proper filing of financial documents.
  • Support internal controls, audit activities and compliance checks.
  • Monitor outstanding loan balances, defaults, income and expenditure.
  • Support budgeting, financial planning and statutory/cooperative reporting requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or HND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
  • ICAN, ANAN, ACCA or related professional certification is an added advantage.
  • 5-7 years accounting experience, preferably in a cooperative, microfinance, financial institution or similar environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong accounting and financial reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and audit procedures.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • High accuracy, integrity and confidentiality.
